Since the inception of SEO, Back-links from .edu & .gov domain sites are given too much importance. It is being said that its very difficult to get .edu links for your site. Well not really, If you do it correctly it is not really difficult to get dot edu backlinks….

Here are some of the steps that you can take to get lots of .edu backlinks

Methode #1: Blog Comments

before we get started with this method, I recommend you go through my previous blog post “Blog Commenting Best Practices“.

Now Lets get started,

Use this search query in Google, Yahoo & Bing.

site:.edu inurl:blog

Sounds good, this will list all the .edu urls which have the word blog in it’s url. Let’s make it even better,

site:.edu + keyoword + inurl:blog

Awesome, This will return all the .edu sites which are related to your keyword & have the word blog in it’s URL.

Now you can even more accurate results by using queries like,

site:.edu inurl:blog “post a comment”

site:.edu inurl:blog “post a comment” -”comments closed”

keyword + site:.edu inurl:blog “post a comment” -”comments closed” -”you must be logged in”

You can also go to google blog search & use this search string. This gives better than the best results for sure..

keyword + site:.edu “post a comment” -”comments closed” -”you must be logged in”

Use this methode wisely & enjoy some valuable .edu links :) . Make sure you don’t over do this, Or you may endup getting in the SANDBOX of the BIG G

Method # 2 Moodle

Moodle is the most popular course management system (CMS) that is being used by plenty of education istitutions worldwide. This is a great place to get backlinks

Search for this string in yahoo.

“Login here using your username” “For full access to courses you’ll need to take a minute to create a new account for” site:edu inurl:login

Now just sit back, Relax Yourself & visit each & every site. What you get over here is that a list of moodle sites. Now follow the steps

  1. Signup for the moodle univ. account.
  2. confirm the email etc…
  3. look for edit profile link/button
  4. put in your profile article optimized for your keywords, Makesure you insert the links to your site with your keyword as an anchor text somewhere in between the articles.
  5. Congratulations you just got a powerful .edu backlink
  6. Ping your profile page using http://pingomatic.com/

Methode #3 PHPBB forums

Yet another platform, A free for all open source most popular forum/group discussion platform.

search this in yahoo

site:edu “Page 1 of 1″ “Select sort method” “joined” “Website”
